The Legendary Chelsea Hotel

The Chelsea Hotel is just one of the largest residential and hostel for artists of all kinds where have crossed the greatest names of literature, poetry, music, painting as well as philosophy. The universe of the hotel, the atmosphere, the emergence around the place has inspired more one of those artists who quickly made it a place of debauchery with long cheeky nights. Believe me or not, it really moved creation forward.

The greatest artists stayed at Chelsea Hotel and some even became residents such as Frida Khalo, Janis Joplin, The Kills, The Ramones, Jasper Johns, Bob Dylan, Francesco Clemente, Mappelthorpe, The Libertines, Patti Smith… Andy Warhol even shot one of his films: “Chelsea Girls”. Lots of great songs and novels also refer to it. The Libertines recorded a good number of songs in the hotel. The architecture of the place is also very special because very impressive. Dating from 1883, its wrought iron long balconies, mixed with the red brick, give a mythical side to this key location of Downtown. A vestige of history.
