JERRY IN PARIS – ENCORE
I keep spending more and more time in Paris lately, it’s great. Although it sometime feels pretty weird being back in the town where I grew up after years on the other side of the channel. As I stroll around like a tourist, old memories suddenly get back to me, and recurrent dreams and faded memories start to get mixed up.
With Vivienne Westwood’s Gold Label showing in Paris, it’s always incredible to see the creative core of the London-based company in all its chaotic madness and Brit eccentricity invade en masse an old hotel particulier, a very posh hotel or a disused bank on place Vendôme… Yet the show kicks off and more often than not you’re taken on a magical ride that blows your head off.
The fashion weeks keep on coming and it’s exciting to be around the Parisians who tailor the capital’s nightlife. What with André & sa Clique, Social Club, Flash Cocotte, Cha Cha, Jardins de Bagatelle, Club Sandwich, Excuse My French… all great venues and parties that are defining this moment in time in Paris and making it the vibrant city, full of passion and drama, you expect from such a beautiful city.
Reminds me why my brother Tom and I – under our moniker Riviera Splash – wrote a single called ‘I Love Paris’ for Stress records years ago…
