JERRY BOUTHIER PARIS FASHION WEEK DJ MIX
It’s Paris Fashion Week madness again, so I thought I would come up with a dj mix almost in the vein of the soundtracks I create for the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Matthew Williamson, Peter Jensen, Roksanda Ilincic, Songzio, Osman… As a dj the big difference when you do music for the catwalk is that you don’t have to make people dance. You’re creating moods and telling stories, so obviously the musical scope is much wider. That’s what I’ve tried to do here, a mix that you can still dance to – or even better flirt to – but that hopefully will move you and take you places too. The tracks included are among my favourites at the moment, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did putting it together. And in case you wondered, pianos are back… big time.
And if you’re in Paris this week, whether you’re doing shows all day long or just happen to be in town, come join me on the following nights where I’ll be spinning party tunes – what else?! it’s fashion week or not?!
Tonight tuesday 1st of March I’m kicking off PFW at le Pompon with my good dj friends from Berlin’s Broken Hearts Club. Wednesday 2nd I’ll be at Gareth Pugh’s after-show party at Chacha with my ex BoomBox dj-colleague Matthew Stone. Friday afternoon I’m playing the music at Vivienne Westwood’s Gold Label show, so afterwards I’ll enjoy a night off and a good meal with this unique and how inspirational character (still can’t believe I’ve landed the job of musical director for her lines, 3 years already) and her staff of course – a great bunch of (almost) equally unique personalities. Sunday 6th I’ll be at Carmen for my old acquaintance Richard Mortimer and the launch of his Ponystep magazine (finally, yay!). Hopefully I’ll do a set at La Perle too (thu or sat) but with that awfully weird Galliano story, I’m not so sure just yet what the score is with djs there at the moment… In all cases it’s still the best bar in Paris (honest I’m not biased, although I’ve long been friends with its manager Madj who used to be Britany’s best dj back in the days, not me saying but Gildas Loaec so here you go, lol). Until then… see ya x
