Only one week to go before the release, meet the band through an interview and an exclusive playlist !

First of all, could you tell us a bit about the story behind the band?
Back in 2006 Johan and Olov shared a flat in Gothenburg and overdosed on old indie vinyls (which was practically all they had in the flat…). At some point they decided to start a band only in order to release a 7” in 100 copies and keep 99 copies under their bed. They explained the idea to Andreas over a cup of coffee (who at this point was mostly releasing house 12”-singles and djing) and he reluctantly agreed to join. Anyhow, the 7” was released a few months later and still resides under Olov’s bed… We never even gave away that 1 copy. It’s actually a really good single!
We started doing some live shows and played several times at clubs run by Lina. One thing led to another and after a few months she had joined the band. No one really knows how it happened but it was a good thing.

How would you describe your band and music in a few words?
Dystopian indie afro… on a beach.

What’s the best thing about having a single released on Kitsuné?
Kitsuné is one of those labels we always wanted to work with and through some fluke we made contact a few months ago. And we always wanted to see what we look like as cartoons! We look like monkeys… which is cool! We love monkeys.

What would be your dream place for a concert?
Bob Stanley’s apartment or grand canyon.

What’s the funniest thing that happened to you on the road?
Besides the usual stories of 11 people in a camper or sleeping on the floor of a Berlin ATM with homeless people it’s probably the look of utter confusion and contempt we always get trying to order vegan food in France.

What are your plans for the coming months?
We’re finishing our album, playing some shows, hanging out in our country houses in Sweden and enjoying summer in general. And then it’s autumn and mild depression.
