Kitsuné meets Sanghon Kim – Interview
Sanghon Kim is a fine-art graphic-design, his works mix techniques that you are never able to know whether you’re looking at a drawing, a photomontage or computer graphics and he is also a bright upcoming video director!
Meet the guy behind Housse de Racekt‘s new video Chateau and Alesia‘s cover artwork.
How did you met the guys from Housse de Racket and what was your first impression of them?
I met them in a café to talk about the project and then I had the chance to listen to the album.
They really share their deep love and passion for what they do. Cool, real nice and fresh boys.
What decided you to work first on the cd artwork then on a video clip of Housse de Racket?
First Pierre, Victor and their music. Then all the ideas and stories that we shared.
At the time I was finishing my first video so as the strange character came up for the cover, naturally we talked about a story and then a film project. Thanks for their trust.
What’s this character made of steel that we can find both on the cd artwork and the videoclip? What does he represent for you?
The character is a reference to greek mythology mixed with a hint of science fiction.
The idea was to personify a new kind of youthful romantic and unreal hero.
This creature is like some kind of time travelling dreamer, an everlasting steel witness.
What was your main inspiration on that work?
The ancient greek sculpture of the god of sleep, Hypnos with a broken wing.
Some drafts of Camille Claudel and the T-1000.
The hexagon, the red and blue was a reference to the title of the Album.
What was the hardest task when you directed this video?
To keep calm.
What’s your favorite song on the album and why ?
Roman and Chateau, they are both made of a punchy melancholia.
