Meet Zulu Winter – Kitsuné Maison En Vrai! #10
Last but not least, we’re adding the melancholy catchy pop band Zulu Winter to the bill of our Kitsuné Maison En Vrai #10 at La Maroquinerie on Dec 1st, a good occasion for a quick catch up with the boys about Paris and music!

Is it your first gig in Paris?
This will be our second gig in Paris. We recently did a bit of a mini Europe tour, in which we played Les Inrocks festival. We played with some great bands and it was a lot of fun.
What do you expect from your Kitsuné Maison En Vrai gig?
I’m not really sure what to expect to be honest, I know that the Kitsuné company has many angles to it, what with clothing as well as music, so I’m expecting a very eclectic experience. The bands that you have on the label are excellent; I have been enjoying Beataucue, and House De Racket. We are just really pleased to be part of the event: the other bands we are playing with are great.
And from the Parisian crowd?
My experience of the Parisian crowd has been great, but after the last show we had to leave quite quickly to get back to London for a BBC Maida Vale session. The people that we did meet were really supportive and a pleasure to speak to.
How would you describe your music?
The aim with our music is to write pop songs, but ones depth and texture to them. Our songs have an edge of melancholy to them but also are quite groove based, which enables people to lock onto them and have a bit of a dance.
What is your favourite song that you will perform? and why?
My personal favourite is Small Pieces, it has a slight dubstepy sort of feel to it, which I love. The bass-line is great fun to play, it has a great groove and really has an attitude to it that not many of our songs have.
Have you heard about the other bands? who you’ll attend?
Yes, the other bands playing very good, I would imagine we will do what we normally do which is try to watch all the bands that we share the stage with, I think its nice to get to know the other bands your playing with and build up a bit of a community. There are way too many plonkers in the industry and I think building good inter-band relationships is a must. Its also nice being first on so you can sit back have a couple of beers and watch the other bands without having to think about your performance.
Three words that make you think about Paris?
Stripes. Louvre. Jim Morrison
And a song?
Anything by Serge Gainsbourg.
