Kitsuné Meets Alice Et Virgile – Interview
Young, parisians and dashing producers/djs, LOGO have been signed to Kitsuné for a pretty long time now, since their first EP “La Vie Moderne”.
Here at Kitsuné we are more than proud of LOGO and their very recognizable aesthetic sound that became very singular and outstanding in the French electro scene.
Their track “Fabrice” and the video, have been especially acclaimed. That’s why we decided to meet Alice et Virgile, two talented and passionate artists who directed the psyche-catchy videoclip of “Fabrice“.
How would you describe each other ?
Virgile : Alice is really spontaneous and I often have to soften her.
Alice : It’s true. I’m the spontaneous and he’s the voice of reason. So when we work together we find an ideal balance. Plus, we’re really opened to each other’s ideas. When one wants to record something, even if the other is not that enthusiastic, we try it anyway and then we judge by the final result. Actually, our references and universes are such similar, we always finish to agree.
Do you still study?
Alice : Yes, I’m at the Gobelins school, in Paris. Before, I was at the Ateliers de Sèvres during two years.
Virgile : I don’t study anymore. I used to attend literature courses at the Sorbonne Paris.
Also, I learnt photography on my own. Well, with a little help from my mother who is a photographer. It helped me because I already got a lot of equipment within easy reach : especially specific learning books, which taught me the bases and mechanics of photography.
How did the idea of this video clip come ?
Virgile : Hugues and I were introduced during a party. We talked together and, one thing leading to another, I offered him to make a video for his song “Fabrice”. He agreed and there we are.
How long did it take and where was it shot ?
Alice : It was shot in Picardie. In small villages and ports, in Ault to be exact. It took 4 days. As we already knew the group LOGO, the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. Moreover, all the people around us were extremely helpful. For example, the owner of the bowling where we shot were overjoyed to receive us, he didn’t even ask anything except the link of the video. It’s not like in Paris, where you cannot film anything without an official authorization.
Virgile : As well, I’ve to add we had no budget at all, except our own material. But we were organised as real video-makers and clip directors. We went on place once, to perform the spottings… We were prepared.
After all, what did you want to show, what’s the heart of your step ?
Virgile : We wanted to brighten what we were listening to in the track, means their mad side and all these feelings their music transmit us. Our story was easy : a young woman who become crazy and kill his boyfriend.”
