How would you define today’s French Touch scene ?
It is in an never-ending evolving movement since Daft Punk’s worldwide success in the mid nineties. I think that we’re producing the best electronic music available today, its the most creative and we really have our own sound. I’m very proud of being a part of that scene.

Discopolis’ international success was an essential step in your career ?
It was one of the essential steps yes, Vulture (Alan Braxe’s label) was a great launch platform for this record, one of the the other step was that Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk and DJ Falcon playlisted one of my first record “Blackchess” a lot when touring the “Together Tour 2002” and this bought me a lot of attention from the independent record industry.

You have just released “Don’t Stop” EP in featuring with A-Trak. Was this collaboration easy? How did you come to work together ?
It’s a nice little story. Well Gildas from Kitsuné invited me to play in London a few years ago at Hoxton bar, David from Chromeo (who’s A-Trak big brother) was in the city. We met when I was asked by him to remix “Needy Girl”, so I invited him to the gig, he came with Alain (A-Trak) and the next day we were sitting in the hotel lobby discussing about music and other things.
He was at that time the DJ for Kanye West so we stayed in contact. When I played in NYC I called the two brothers and we went to eat somewhere. They are really nice guys !
Later on, A-Trak asked me to remix Treasure Fingers for his new label Fool’s Gold that he was just launching. We’re good friends since years now. You know Alain (A-Trak) was a DMC scratch champion, N°1 when he was only 16 years old, so I thought adding his skills on this EP would really turn the record into something great!

As I was preparing an album, they were the first names I wanted to work with. It’s so easy to work with them, we don’t even have to talk business, we just do like and respect each others music.

What was your first reaction when you listened to Gigamesh, Mauvais Cliché and The Bloody Sisters’ remixes ?
I really love the remixes, they are all bringing the track into different directions I wouldn’t have been even able to think about ! Gigamesh took a breakbeat direction suddenly, Mauvais Cliché would make you think we’re at the Hacienda in the early 90’s and The Bloody Sisters sound like Rick James meet Zapp and Roger.

What do you prefer? To be remixed or to remix?
Oh remixing is better than being remixed, you earn more money! Just kidding (laugh).
More seriously, it’s quite different to remix than being remixed, but both must have to be surprising for the artist remixed and for the artist you are remixing. Otherwise a remix can be quite uninteresting if you can’t bring the original to another level.

“Don’t Stop” is also a message regarding your musical activity? You’re not ready to stop for the moment ?
That is funny, I didn’t think about that. There is no message in the track, it was just a cool rap vocal that suited well the music. Ready to stop ? It depends what, music certainly not (laugh) !

What are your future plans ?
A full LP album is on the way, by now about 90% of the work is done. The album features Chromeo, Oliver, A-Trak of course, but also Electric Youth, Afrobot, Alan Braxe and Yota.
My Album release date should be around April/May 2013, but before, I will release certainly another EP maybe with Kitsuné again early next year.

I do also have a lot of remixes going to be released the next months, like The Presets “Promises”, Classixx “Holdin’ On”, Vitalic “La Mort Sur Le Dancefloor, and a brand new EP from Alan Braxe “One More Chance”.
