Baadman : The New French Electro Prodigy
Baadman is ready to release his very first EP “Stab” on Kitsuné, on May 13th and already available on iTunes, and we’re very proud to accompany this young artist who’s talent is really impressive considering his young age. With complex, mature and energetic tracks, no doubt he will be the artist to follow this summer!
Being new on the electro scene, here is an interview he did for TeezFM where he answers some questions about himself and his work. And while reading the interview, listen to the minimix he did for “Stab” :
Just to begin with our interview, where are you right now while answering our questions?
I’m at my parent’s home.
Who is Baadman?
Baadman is just a pseudonym. I am not hiding behind this name, I just found it funny and cool haha.
Your first EP “Stab” will be released in May on Kitsuné. How would you define your musical style?
I think it’s a mix of different kinds of music like rave, techno, acid… I don’t like to do the same thing all the time.
You’ve remixed Yelle’s “L’amour Parfait’, any other artists on the card for remixing?
Yes, but it remains secret… The only thing I can say is that I love this band!
What were your earliest experiences with music? The first record you bought, for instance?
Since I was a kid, my parents have been listening to all kind of music at home : jazz, funk, soul. My first “shock” with electronic music was Tiestö, I think. I was a really big fan! But few years later, in 2008, I met Don Rimini who played some electronic tracks at a family party and that clearly changed my vision of electronic music.
What has influenced you in the past years?
I did some search about the basics of electronic music, because of my young age I did not know this time haha. So I listened to some labels like Trax, Missile, Dance Mania and all this stuff blew my head ! I think my EP “Stab” comes from that infuence.
How do you think you fit in historically? Are there an artists doing similar things or things that inspire you?
I think some new young producer like me will be very big in a few years like, for example, SCNTST who is 18 years old. For me he’s the best producer at the moment!
How do you see the music industry in the next coming years?
I really don’t know. Music industry changes literally every year, but internet will have a very important place, even more than now maybe !
What’s the hot, new track of the moment?
My favourite track of the moment is Manaré, “Riddle”. It’s an awesome techno track, very simple, but very very powerful.
What do you do when you’re not music-ing?
I’m studding (yeah), I also watch a lot of movies, see my girlfriend… A lot of stuffs.
We wish you the very best with your first EP, have you got something to say to our readers?
Thanks for this interview, that was cool, and thanks for supporting me!
