Ahead of our huge Hip Hop Kitsuné Club Night at the Faust club in Paris next Saturday, we sat down with the talented and uprising German producer and headliner of the party IAMNOBODI to talk about trap music, Paris and his upcoming projects. Start listening and read below.

We’re stoked to have you on our Parisian Kitsuné Club Night line-up! What do you think of the French capital?

Paris is a really beautiful city and also one of my favorite cities in the world. So much energy! Inspiration everywhere you look. Also really nice and genuine people and i’m always happy to come back and play here!

Could you describe your music in three words?

That’s a good question man, but honestly, music is so much more than I could describe it in three words, therefore i gotta quote the late great Ludwig van Beethoven who said: ‘Music is a higher revelation than all wisdom and philosophy’. Sorry if that came across a lil cocky, but that’s just how it is and how i see it too.

What do you think of the emerging trap hip-hop scene?

To be real honest with you, I don’t really like trap. Unless it’s by Mr Carmack because he just knows how to do it right. But then again, i wouldn’t consider his stuff Trap anyway. He is a really versatile guy and able to combine genres in clever ways. Me personally, I’m into soul and jazz music because that’s the stuff i grew up on as a little boy and that’s all i wanna do. to play those records for my children and educate them about what’s real and where it comes from. But just to make shit clear: i don’t hate trap or trap / edm producers! who am i to judge man? I just feel like a lotta people just copy and copy and then what? i miss the originality. Do what makes YOU happy and what makes YOU feel good.

What are your favourite producers right now?

I got a bunch of favorites tho.. Sounwave from TDE, FlyLo, Jordan Rakei, Moods, Carmack, Stwo, Sango, Kaytranada, my Soulection squad, DJ Dahi, Alfa Mist.. too many to name em all, which is a good thing because that only means real music is out there. You just gotta dig a little bit deeper to find what you’re looking for.

Last but not least, what can we expect from IAMNOBODI in 2015?

2015 will be a great year god willing. I’m working on a lot of music. Still working on a full-length project and definitely taking my time with it. Apart from that i’ll spend more time with my kids, play a bunch of shows here and there, setting up a tour aswell. And then some stuff i’ll talk about when it’s official and the time is right for it.
