Kitsuné Maison 16 – The Sweet Sixteen Issue

Bringing the best of the music’s future, the Kitsuné Maison compilation is back for a brand new 'Sweet Sixteen Issue'! Out now on all Kitsuné networks, read now more about it!

Kitsuné Maison Compilation is back for a brand new round!

Entitled “The Sweet Sixteen Issue”, the label’s flagship compilation is taking a new turn by showcasing some of the most exciting artists of tomorrow!

Bringing you a complete assortment of the movers and shakers of the music’s future, Kitsuné Maison 16 hits the streets on November 3rd with a fresh new artwork composed of drawings by 23 of the most exciting new illustrators scouted by the label.

With ‘The Sweet Sixteen Issue’ for a name, the compilation focuses on the beginning of a teenager’s party age like celebrating a girl’s sixteenth birthday in North America!

For Kitsuné’s co-founder Gildas Loaëc, this new volume is resolutely about adolescence: “Who’s not for re-experiencing the emotions of being 16 again? When life’s all to be discovered and conquered… Although in the same vein, Maison 16 is more gentle and tender than its predecessors. Never standing still, the label’s almost unstoppable and is constantly morphing into new shapes and ideas“ says Gildas.

Close to the concept of the ‘Sweet Sixteen Issue’, we’ve unearthed undiscovered talents on Instagram and asked them to illustrate in their own way some of the sixteen musicians featured on the compilation! #KitsuneSweet16 digs into the artists nostalgic-yet-slightly-embarassing teenage years…

WHEN I WAS SIXTEEN

1/ Picture

Here’s a picture of me when I was sixteen. I think it sums up that period quite well.

FAKEAR

2/ Tune

Pink Floyd’s ‘Shine on You Crazy Diamonds’ was the track I would listen to again and again. I was really into psychedelic rock at that time and this one was definitely my anthem of the moment.

3/ Memory

When I went on a school trip to Milan with all of my old time friends (Superpoze was one of them). All of the travelling really brought us closer and we all keep such amazing memories.

Davidian – Could Never feat. Eli & Fur EP Out Now!

Still in a very UK House style, with catchy piano lines and a hypnotic voice, this track takes us into a club mood!

Davidian’s single is again supported by three producers who are making their first appearance on the label: J£zus Million‘s remix simultaneously offers ebullient electro-funk vibes and slow motion sounds, while the Vague Recollection duo offers us a very housey version. Artifact rounds off this EP with a very rythmic and powerful drum & bass style remix.

Stay tuned for more goodies from this release!

Catch him in London on October 18th at Village Undergound for an epic Kitsuné party: more info here!

Kitsuné America 3 – The Musical Road Trip

Maison Kitsuné is hitting the road this summer with the third episode of our Kitsuné America series !

Always keeping our foxy ears open, we at Kitsuné try to never fail in delivering a fresh and innovative selection of offbeat musical snapshots! After putting Two Door Cinema Club, Yelle, Hot Chip and numerous others on the map, we’re conquering the US, picking up the country’s own local artists where it’s buzzin’. This 3rd edition keeps on favouring the thinking-outside- the-box generation, with beats and grooves continuing their growing domination.

By releasing Kitsuné America 1 & 2, we still feel that the new continent is adventurous, musicians are letting loose and that striking combinations of styles and sounds are taking place. A perfect time for boss Gildas to meet new exciting artists: “We believe in those acts and want to help them develop. Our ear is finely-tuned, we know a good tune when we hear one.” Kitsuné America 3 is ideal to stream comfy at home or to drive down Route 66 and feel what it’s all about…Watch out for its release on June 2nd!

Village – The Touch EP

Kitsuné ventures to Eastern Europe and brings back rising talent Village !

The sound of Romania-born producer Village is a stirring mash-up of contemplative bass, incisive percussion bits, Jersey club and cleverly reworked R&B vocals. He first came to the wider world’s attention with breakthrough track “Takeover” back in 2012. Constantly on the move, the beginning of 2014 has brought him official rerubs for the likes of Lana Del Rey and Lily Allen, some of his first shows abroad and now his first EP on Kitsuné !

The track is backed by 4 clubby remixes: famous Spanish producer Henry Saiz, ARME for quite a tropical version, Maxthor who brings a 80’s touch to the song and Lemonick who puts a nervous and intense final touch to the EP.

With this catchy one, what happens next promises to be exciting !

Kitsuné Talk : Shinichi Osawa x Beataucue

Just in a week time, we were glad to announce the release of both Beataucue’s “Kyllan” and Shinichi Osawa’s “Breaking Through The Night” EPs.

As they’ve already teamed up before on the French duo’s “Falcon Punch” EP, we’ve invited all three of them to answer some of our questions!

Download Beataucue “Kyllan” EP Minimix

When listening to each other’s EPs, what feeling comes instantly?

Beataucue: “Breaking Through The Night” sounds raw and make us wanna dance.

Shinichi Osawa: When listening to “Kyllan”, I thought they were embracing a new style.

Both EPs definitely put us in a dance mood! How about you?

B: “BTTN” definitely puts us in a dance mood. The track is made for the dancefloor and is pretty effective.

SO: Dance music has diversified so much. Honestly I don’t really know “what’s what” anymore. lol

Out of the remixes featured on both EPs, which one is your favourite? Why?

B: The Korgbrain remix because it’s great warm up music

SO: My favorite is the JoeFarr Remix. Because it follows a 4/4 beat the most and I like that it has little eccentric fills.

Which three adjectives come to mind when listening to each other’s EP?

B: Raw, effective and intense

SO: HARD, STRONG, FAT

Looking back at your last collaboration on the track ‘H.O.W.L’, it seems that your beats get along pretty well huh? Ready for another round?

B: It was definitely a great experience to make a track with Shinichi! He is very skilled to find techno melodies and to make great sounding raw synths. I remember the process was fast. Of course we’re ready for another round!

SO: Yes, we get along so I’d love to work together again.
