LOGO Reveal Their Brand-New Video Of Cardiocleptomania!

LOGO reveal the new video of «Cardiocleptomania», their last stunning EP, released on Kitsuné! The video is directed by Alice & Virgile, who had already done wonders with LOGO’s acclaimed track « Fabrice”.

Designed to challenge and condemn homophobia in sports as much as it is the story of opposite impulses, the video is willing to fight one of the most painful and taboo subjects of nowadays.

A fight that already has a lot of support as the film is already number one on Hypetrack and Hypebeast!

Filmed at the the French Institute of Sport (INSEP), the video stars the handsome actor Niels Schneider, previously seen in Xavier Dolan’s Heartbeats (Les amours imaginaires), as the leader of a cycling team. One of his team mates, a lonely, hesitant boy, is sitting on a fence: he seems to keep aloof from the other boys and to hide a secret yearning for the team leader, Niels Schneider.

Once, as they get together in the locker room, the solitary boy can’t help kissing the team leader. Offended — or is he? —, the leader leaves only to return and smack the other boy as hard as he can.

What leaves us on a scene as enigmatic as “Cardiocleptomania” ‘s name, which is perhaps the scientific term for a “heart robbery”.

Crowning all, the song’s voltages, convulsive piano and sticky sub-bass lines throbbing in the background, also add hints of tenseness to this drama midway between romance and abruptness.

Kitsuné AMERICA 2 : Alison Valentine "Circles and Triangles"

Between the music studies and the day job creating flower arrangements (for Valentine’s Day, miss Valentine even held a flower bouquet stand at the Maison Kitsuné Paris boutique!), classically trained Alison Valentine crafts feminine laptop pop just like the delectable and tropical “Circles and Triangles” featured on the new Kitsuné AMERICA 2 compilation!

We asked her to present herself in a few words, so let’s read her funny and girlie self-portrait below!

Three things we shouldn’t know about Alison Valentine :
– Sometimes my friends call me Ali. When I was little my nickname was Allycat. The French boys call me “petit chat”

– I study music at NYU right now. I wrote “Circles and Triangles” about those times when I’m daydreaming during class and drawing pictures all over my notebooks.

– Next to school and singing I am also a florist and I have a flower company called 11×11.
11 is my lucky number and the x in the centre is a kiss.
We make flower creations for many music and fashion clients around New York City.  For Valentine’s Day, this year, I sold bouquets for the all lovers at the Maison Kitsuné boutique in Paris. Even though I am from New York I have a California soul, and in January I played my first show in California with my friend Moon Boots.
While I was singing, a crazy Mexican man jumped on the stage and tried to snatch away my mic,  so I punched him and sent him flying off the stage into the crowd.

Kitsuné AMERICA 2 : Chrome Sparks "Marijuana"

Chrome Sparks is sparkling a lot with his music.
Cinematic slo-mo is big… the reaction to today’s fast beats which have invaved the charts? No doubt, weed’s played its part… Chrome Sparks won’t disagree!

His track “Marijuana” is featured on Kitsuné AMERICA 2, out April 29th, a reason good enough to ask Jeremy Malvin aka Chrome Sparks three stories about himself that you never could imagine. Read them below.

Three things we shouldn’t know about Chrome Sparks :
– I was in a car chase with a man with a gun because I hit his car after a girl talk concert. It was his fault and I escaped.
– When I was born, my heart was not beating and I was not breathing. Some call that ‘dead’.
– I drink A1 sauce.

Chrome Sparks performed at our Kitsuné Party for SXSW festival, check out the photo report here!

He also played live at the Hype Hotel, watch his show below:

Crayon & Pyramid Interview + Exclusive Mixtape!

Crayon & Pyramid, the two new cool French producers and selfmade djs, have just released a fizzy EP together called “So Far Gone” on Kitsuné.

They did an exclusive mixtape for Discobelle which you can get on their website or below!

And as they just held their proper release party with Yuksek as a guest and did a show in Japan with BeatauCue, LOGO and Gildas, we interviewed them about their feelings and upcoming exciting news! Read it below:

What did you want to express in “So Far Gone”?
We composed the music for “So Far Gone”, which has a dominant nostalgic feel to it. Yet some parts come with a more hopeful, laidback atmosphere. We think the singer Golden Retriever did a great job with the words since it basically translates these emotions with the lyrics. You know, “Can We Try, etc…”

Was it intimidating or thrilling to make your proper release party with Yuksek as a guest?
He is definitly one of our biggest influences. It was quite challenging for us two since I (Crayon) got to play before him and Pyramid got to play after.

And what about your live in Tokyo at the Kitsuné Club Night French Kiss Invasion, with Gildas, BeatauCue and LOGO?
This party was pure insanity, we both had our best party ever, played our best sets to the most enthusiastic crowd!

Is Tokyo’s audience really different from the French one?
To be honest, French audience is much more difficult, you have to play fresher, more hip stuffs and etc. While in Japan, from what we experienced, it seems they care more about the energy of your set rather than the tunes.

Your best live memory?
Pyramid: I would say Tokyo for both us.
Crayon: Tokyo and also Montreal with my friends Jupiter. Great memories!

What are your musical influences?
Crayon : We share some similar influences, but in quite different ways and for very different reasons. I’m really into this late 70’s pop thing, acts like Supertramp or Alan Parsons. I’m also a big funk lover, Change is one of my favourite band, and I grew up listening to “Thriller” on repeat like billions of other kids.

Pyramid : Sci-fi / ambiant stuff, I’m a huge fan of Alan Parson’s Project as well, Justice, Supertramp, Boards of Canada or Royksopp for example, I’m not a huge listener of groovy / disco stuff, I find more of myself in melody or long dreamy pads.

Apart from music, do you share other passions together?
Pyramid : We share a lot of stupid passions that we won’t talk about here… We are both big videogame players and I’m also a big movie / TV show consumer.

Crayon: Well I used to draw and paint before I started making music. I don’t really have the time to keep it up but I’m still into arts, I love that new kind of expressionist thing from that “crew” called Black Market. Ben Tour is my favourite out of them all.

What’s next for both of you?
Pyramid: For now we’re both starting to play some gigs here and there. I’m about to release 2 new remixes, one for french singer AV and the other one for Golden Retriever, the singer on “So Far Gone”. I’m also finished with writing the soundtrack for a short film, as well as an Indie Game called Pixel Boy. I should be writing some more, notably for another short animated film.

Crayon: Well I’m working on my first EP, and as usual a bunch of remixes. And of course, touring is another thing I want to focus on more from now on.
