Maison Kitsuné x Kilo Kish – Capsule Collection

Add a little bit of Kilo Kish to you summer wardrobe!

With summer’s arrival already in mind, we’re happy to bring you our latest capsule collaboration with one of our favorite American songwriter and visual artist Kilo Kish!

Inspired by Maison Kitsuné’s French roots and the classic American summer, Kilo Kish brings to life an exclusive collection for the brand: “With an effortlessly French label such as Maison Kitsuné, I thought to design pieces that represented some of the more endearing American traditions.”

Celebrated for her uniquely feminine rap style, Kilo Kish has been named “Artist to Watch” by Rolling Stone, MTV along others and she’s won the adoration of the fashion industry, as she is often described as a “style star” gracing the pages of magazines including Vogue, Elle, Glamour and Nylon. With one foot in fashion and the other in music, Kish’s collaboration with Maison Kitsuné was a natural fit for the multi-faceted brand.

The capsule collection consists of lightweight t-shirts and sweatshirt plus accessories such as an iPhone case, scarf and tote bag, featured with stripes in red, white and blue. “The colors and stripes are a play on both the French and American flags – the tote bag actually has the French flag on one side and American on the other! Last but not least, I wanted everything to pair best with an American classic, blue jeans,” she explains.

Captured by French photographer Alice Moitié, the Maison Kitsuné x Kilo Kish collection is now available in all boutiques and online!

#KitsuneAmerica 4 – At the Drive In With Twin Peaks!

Kitsuné is taking you to the movies for its 4th Kitsuné America Episode... A brand new compilation coming to your ears on May 25th!

On May 25th Kitsuné is releasing its 4th #KitsuneAmerica compilation! Full of new gems coming freshly from the States, we’re taking you day by day closer to the musicians!

With roots reaching back to elementary school, these 20 year old bad boys armed with bright, singing guitars won’t be no flash in the pan. Taking a leaf from pretty much anyone who ever did wonders on 6 strings and with three distinct singer-songwriters onboard, Twin Peaks manages to sound familiar whilst remaining inventive.

After a ride to the drive in with us, the 5-piece gave us their hometown city guide of Chicago!

What is your favourite museum in Chicago ?

In Chicago, we play music. We Laugh, we love, we drink, we cry. It usually happens in that order.

Our favorite museum in Chicago is The Lincoln Park Zoo for sure.

The best place to have a drink ?

The best place to have a drink is The Montrose Saloon. It’s a neighborhood pub with all the character of a drunk Mobster.

The nicest walk?

The nicest walk is along the lake heading south towards Downtown. Man, that breeze could make even the saltiest of sailors smile.

The best place to eat?

The best Place to eat is Lou Malnatis Pizzaria. Best Deep dish on the planet, possibly in the Galaxy, but I hear they’re still voting on that one.

The best club or venue in town?

The best Venue is either Schubas tavern, or Lincoln Hall. Great sound at both clubs. Also, killer bands are constantly rolling through those joints.

#KitsuneAmerica 4 – At the Drive In With Joyce Wrice!

Based in Los Angeles, Joyce Wrice is another singer/songwriter plotting the future of soul within an electronic context. Dangerously languorous ‘Home Alone’ is a slow, slightly schizophrenic r’n’b smoocher that’s hard to resist.

After a ride to the drive in with us, the beautiful Joyce gave us her own city guide of her hometown: Los Angeles!

What is your favourite museum in Los Angeles ?

I was able to watch a short film by Kahlil Joseph at The Underground Museum and ever since my first trip there, I couldn’t stop myself from not going back there! In addition to the beautiful interior design, they have so many great books, and vinyl records for you to read and listen to.

The best place to have a drink ?

I like Bar Nine and Jerry’s Flying Fox!

The nicest walk?

The nicest walks I’ve had are the ones with dogs that are up for adoption. We walk and run around the Fairfax and Melrose area and it’s very therapeutic for me.

The best place to eat?

The Serving Spoon! They also have a really good music playlist and that’s always a plus for me.

The best club or venue in town?

I haven’t been to too many clubs in LA. I follow my DJ friends around like Sean g, Siik, PJ and Drewbyrd and go to whatever club they’re playing at. For live shows, I really like the Bootleg Theater. I saw KING and Quadron there and left feeling super elated.

ON THE ROAD WITH BEAÛ – Q&A

Have you done a road trip in your life ? if so whereabouts ? If not, where would you like to go?

YES YES AND YES. The first road trip we ever took was with Ryan McGinley back in the summer of 2012. That trip was called Southern Oasis because we passed through and lived in many southern states. It was an extremely sweaty trip as well because we were down South in the summer. To name a few of those places:  North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, and Alabama. The further south we went the thicker the southern accents became, the hotter the sun burned, and the greater the adventures grew. We went swimming with alligators, climbing through kudzu (which is home to every vicious bug in the book) and found ourselves in the middle of what looked like mars but what was really sand dunes. During this whole experience we were naked with only boots to keep our feet from bleeding or being eaten away by red fire ants. We would do it all over again if we could.

The second road trip we went on was more classic and focused on exploration rather than art. We travelled from New York City all the way to San Francisco stopping in as many places as possible.

The beauty of the trip was getting to experience it with my best friend Emilie Aström, My Lover Christopher Landon and his best friend Steven. One New Yorker, One Swede, and two New Zealanders. The trip was incredibly scenic from the endless roads in Texas, to the perfectly patterned cactus in Nevada, to the great and grand canyon in Arizona. We took route 1 up to San Francisco from the bottom of California and I have never seen such beautiful cliffs melting onto the shore of the Pacific Ocean like I did on that trip.

What made route 1 so unreal was the mist floating above and around us the entire way. The boys drove us the entire way and at first it seemed like it would be easy, but I assure you it is the longest drive of your life. They deserve every ounce of respect for taking us there. The last thing to mention is Nashville, Tennessee where music is the bread and butter of their livelihood. After seeing music bring Nashville alive we understood why music is a religion for some people. Every single bar had a live concert going on and it just brought us all pure joy. Memphis also had a similar tone to it, except with soul and blues instead of plane country music. We loved Memphis for it’s bluegrass and we even got to visit Elvis Presley’s home. When I think of that road trip my heart sinks.

Everyone deserves to experience a road trip, and in some cases needs it.

What would be the soundtrack of your road trip ?

The Smiths, Mazzy Star, The Rolling Stones, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, The Strokes, Jimi Hendrix, The Veils, The Talking Heads, The Moody Blues, Lou Reed, The Antlers, BB King, Chris Isaack, CocoRosie, Pink Floyd, The Doors, The Clash, Van Morrison, Billy Holiday, Blondie and most of all Neil Young.

To pick songs would drive us crazy so we just gave you artists . Pretty much every song, every poem and every album was listened to.

The Beatles aren’t in there because somehow we managed to miss them, but we would put them in there too.

If you could only take one thing on a road trip with you, what would it be ?

Our lovers, a blank notebook and an acoustic guitar.
