As we announced two weeks ago here<\/a>, the fashion illustrator Jean-Philippe Delhomme is the hand behind our very first ad campaign for the new “Kitsun\u00e9 fall-winter 2010 collection<\/a>” (in store now). We couldn’t help taking this oppoturtiny to ask him some indiscreet questions…<\/p>\n

Hello, my name is Jean-Philippe Delhomme<\/strong>. I am an illustrator and a writer<\/strong>.
\nI’ am 51 years-old<\/strong>. I was born in Nanterre<\/strong>, and my hometown is Paris<\/strong> but now I live in Paris but I have a studio in NY<\/strong> and spend my holidays in a Greek Island<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Someday, I would like to paint portraits and nudes only<\/strong>, but for now, I spend my days doing many other things, drawing and writing for magazines, advertising, and for my own books and blog<\/strong> .
\nIf I was a young band in a little town of Ireland and trying to seduce Gildas in being featured in a Kitsun\u00e9 Compilation, I would call my band Experienced Outsiders<\/strong> and my first track would be called Girls are no romantics<\/strong> and to seduce Masaya I would dress only in workwear made with traditional fabrics from a remote japanese mountain village<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

I first met Gildas on the phone<\/strong>, then he came to visit my studio in NY, and then we met again with Masaya, a few months later, for lunch at Pastis<\/strong>.
\nThe last time I saw them was at the Paris office, only Gildas was there<\/strong>. We went for lunch in an organic restaurant and I asked him how it’s like to be a DJ on tour<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If Kitsun\u00e9 asked me to do a compilation, my top 5 songs would be…
\n“I Never Said I Was Deep” by Jarvis Cocker
\n“Loosing My Edge” by LCD Sound System
\n“Perfection as a hipster” by God Help The Girl
\n“True Love leaves No Trace” by Leonard Cohen
\n“New York Eyes” by Nicole<\/strong><\/p>\n

My favorite writer is Tom Wolfe, or Proust, or…<\/strong>
\nMy favorite holiday destination is a place where I can work, by the sea, or in the country side, with no tourists around<\/strong>.
\nThe biggest crowd I have ever seen in front of me for a performance was (how many people? ) something around 50 people (that’s why I asked Gildas about playing with crowds in Singapore) <\/strong>
\nMy favorite Catherine Deneuve movie is Rois et Reines, de Arnaud Desplechin, in which she plays a psychiatrist<\/strong>
\nThe most horrible Madonna songs is...Like a Virgin (but it’s the only one that I was ever able to recognized)<\/strong>
\nWhen I was a child, I dreamed of becoming some kind of intellectual<\/strong>.
\nThe best thing of capitalism is there’s more choice<\/strong>.
\nThe addiction I should quit is …I don’t really have addiction<\/strong>
\nMy house looks like…a tree house<\/strong>
\nMy current project is…my blog the “Unknown Hipster”<\/a>
\nI spent yesterday night looking on plane tickets for NY<\/strong><\/p>\n
