More than just an other designer but a philosopher of living. With Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Fernand Léger, Jean Prouvé,… she developed a new vision of interior architecture between functionality and aesthetic.

She worked with very different types of materials : industrial : steel, aluminium and glass at the beginning and later with natural materials, such as wood and bamboo. Through an amazing work on tables, armchairs, stackable plywood chairs,… shelving is the most representative piece of the combination of raw and industrial inspirations which still influence designers today (such as The Hansen Family ; )

Charlotte Perriand, Rio de Janeiro, 1962

“The most important thing to realise is that what drives the modern movement is a spirit of enquiry, it’s a process of analysis and not a style,” stated Charlotte Perriand in one of her last interviews. “We worked with ideals.”

Charlotte Perriand on the B306 Chaise Longue, 1928

Charlotte Perriand (1903–1999) was one of the most innovative interior architects and furniture designers of the 20th century.
