The most charming of the charm magazines,\u00a0Jacques<\/a>, was created by both Jonathan<\/a> and Danielle Leder<\/a>, a fashion photographer and an ex-model-meet-stripper.<\/p>\n

Their peerless concept: “the porn you don’t hide from your girlfriend” describes well their anti-taboo, against vulgarity and fairness-aroused philosophy and is making many waves in newspapers stands and today’s lovers’ intimacy.<\/p>\n

We had a the chance to talk with Danielle Leder<\/a>, editor in chief, about Jacques<\/a>‘ story, her notion of nudity, women’s image, and the inspirations and influences guiding her designing.<\/p>\n

Below, you’ll find a part of her answers, refer to the end of the article*\u00a0for the entire interview.<\/p>

How did the idea of Jacques come to mind?\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

I remember waking up one day and told my ex-husband: \u201dWe\u2019re starting a magazine\u201d.\u00a0 He asked,\u00a0\u201cDoes it feature naked girls?\u00a0\u201c -I think I gave him a dirty look as in\u201d would I do anything else you moron? \u201d. I think he was making fun of me.\u00a0He said : \u201cMake a mock up of what you want to do and that was the beginning\u201d.<\/p>\n

I will say that was the one great thing about our relationship, one of us could of said “I want to go to the moon” and the other would of found a way to build it. He saw merit in my ideas and it was nice.\u00a0 He never once saw me as just some pretty face.<\/p>\n

It was hard at first because a lot of people in the beginning thought I couldn\u2019t do it,\u00a0\u201cWait you mean a 22 year old model \/former stripper high school drop out with a GED wants to start a magazine?\u201d – I guess it does sound a little funny\u2026\u00a0 When the first issue came out, I hid in my house for about a week. I thought people were going to hate it.\u00a0 Jonathan forced me get out and start passing them out.<\/p>\n

Why the name Jacques?<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong>At first we were Ritz.\u00a0 It was the name of one Jonathan\u2019s favorite magazines from the 80\u2019s.\u00a0 Then the Ritz Carlton wanted to sue us, we could have won, but it wasn\u2019t worth the battle so we went back to the drawing board. \u00a0It took us 6 months to come up with a new name, most where taken.<\/p>\n

After one long day of arguing over stupid names\u2026 we just fell silent and started staring at our son playing on the floor, Jonathan said, \u201dJack, we call it Jack\u201d, then I asked how the French pronounce it\u00a0?\u00a0 He said \u201cJacques\u201d.\u00a0 No one else had the name, so we took it.<\/p>\n

Which kind of women can pose for Jacques? Mostly models or novices too?<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong>Any kind, as long as you have bush and I think you\u2019re interesting and have something to say.\u00a0 We\u2019ve used models, but I prefer the novices.<\/p>

There is something very seventies in the style and atmosphere of your pictures, was the vintage French magazine Lui\u00a0 a source of inspiration\u00a0?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

There all a source of inspiration for me, but it\u2019s more in the way that women were portrayed in those days not so much the style of clothing they were wearing\u2026 \u00a0I have OCD and I am really into doing things right.\u00a0 I don\u2019t go through magazines and say \u201cwe’re doing this\u201d, I just go places and do things and meet people.\u00a0 If it\u2019s been done then I just do it better \u2013 Ha.\u00a0 That sounds cocky.\u00a0 My ex husband is more the one to pull swipes.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m actually quite excited for the next issue of Jacques.\u00a0 It\u2019s a three part series, the first part is betrayal. That\u2019s all I\u2019ll say other than this time around it\u2019s all my work, Being Jonathan and I are no longer together I found that instead of using him as my vehicle, I can use myself\u2026 which is a very strange concept for me.<\/p>\n

Your pictures are never retouched and airbrushed. As a woman, I think it is very hard today to like one\u2019s own body when you are constantly confronted to the pictures of retouched 16 year old models, it is as if bodies had no texture, no skin folds\u00a0; They are not real bodies, however magazines make you think it is the norm. Is your position a reaction against that\u00a0?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I want to egg the person\u2019s house who invented Photoshop.\u00a0The girls in the magazines don\u2019t have it easy either, imagine being 6\u20191\u2019\u2019 120 pounds and having everyone tell you your fat.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m a beanpole and that\u2019s what I heard.\u00a0 I told them to fuck off.\u00a0 But so many girls don\u2019t, they starve themselves. It\u2019s a loose\/loose situation. \u00a0Someone needs to speak out against it.\u00a0 I\u2019ve lived on both sides; neither is pretty.<\/p>

Do you trust that women are more beautiful naked than nicely suited up?<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong>No it\u2019s all confidence.\u00a0 If a woman has confidence in herself, then she sexy no matter what she\u2019s wearing.\u00a0 But I prefer being nude and seeing nude women\u2026 it all ways leads to something a little more fun.\u00a0 But then again, I do love undressing\u2026<\/p>

Have you ever shot French girls?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes, one.\u00a0 But I actually want to do a whole \u201c\u00a0Jacques goes to Paris \u201d issue.<\/p>

Which actress would you love to undress?<\/strong><\/p>\n

That\u2019s a tough one.\u00a0 I don\u2019t really follow that celebrity stuff.\u00a0 But let\u2019s change it to musician and I\u2019ll say Taylor Swift.\u00a0 That girl is not innocent- she just has a good PR rep.<\/p>\n

There are no male models in Jacques, is it something you have already considered and maybe even planned to do in the future, or do you want to dedicate yourself exclusively to woman? <\/strong><\/p>\n

I know, I know, I want to start adding men\u2026 but the problem is I have an obsession with hairy chested men and butt all ready cornered that market\u2026\u00a0 and what dude wants to look at some hairy man all over a naked woman?\u00a0I recently started a magazine titled \u201cMargot\u201d it\u2019s for the ladies and named after my daughter.\u00a0 It\u2019s currently in the works.<\/p>

Would you dare to show Jacques to your grandpa?<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong>My grandfather on my mother\u2019s side, I owe everything to him.\u00a0 He died when I was in my teens. I learned all my business ethics from him.\u00a0 He was orphaned at the age of 14 and became a self-made millionaire by the time he was, I think early 30\u2019s.\u00a0 I made sure to listen to everything he said or did.<\/p>\n

He wouldn\u2019t of cared that it was naked girls, just that I\u2019m running my own business and \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0doing something I loved.\u00a0 He worked till the day he died at the head of his company; I plan on doing the same.<\/p>
