Ex-model and friend of Henrik Purienne<\/a>, the New York-based photographer Dylan Forsberg<\/a> knows what it’s like to be on the other side of the camera. The photographer seems careful to convey a sense of sensitivity while\u00a0shooting lovely ladies and oddball streets and landscapes.<\/p>\n

Multi-talented, Dylan Forsberg<\/a> has also designed a clothing line, “Where I Want To Be”, for the American store\u00a0Madwell<\/a>. Recently, he has launched a magazine,\u00a0Transmission<\/a>\u00a0in which he tells us the story story of his life with poetic pictures.<\/p>\n

His work has a real analogue, retro tinge that breathes a lot of personality. There is a lot of natural beauty, highlighted with natural light in his work.<\/p>\n

Maison Kitsun\u00e9 has interviewed him, discover below the whole interview of Dylan Forsberg and a serie of his photos.<\/p>\n

When did you start taking photos?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I started shooting about 5 years ago. It all began as a Christmas present to my mom. I couldn’t afford to get her anything, so as she’s widowed, I took pictures of her to use on a dating site. When I got back to NY, I was hanging out with my friend Hanne Gaby<\/a> and told her the story. She said we should shoot, everyone liked the pictures, I posted them to the internet… and luckily they spread.<\/p>\n

You were model before going behind the lens, what this experience brings you?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I guess the best benefit to modeling was that through it I made friends with other modes who I started my career by shooting. Beside that, I knew how frustrating it can be to not know what’s expected of you as a model. I saw that when the photographers I worked with got discouraged, I got discouraged, and lost the confidence necessary to do my best. Now when I shoot, I direct the model in a way that always keeps them feeling like they’re doing a great job.<\/p>\n

Could you tell us more about the magazine you have created, ” Transmission”?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Transmission<\/a> is everything to me. It like I’ve cut open my heart and bled it to paper. It involves my photography and writing as well as work I find from my favorite artists around the world. I shoot my closest friends intimately and naturally to show that they’re beautiful without makeup and retouching. The writing I’ve included is written as honestly as possible about the most important moments of my life… some things I’ve never even before shared with friends. Basically I hope that by opening up and being honest, I’ll encourage others to do the same.<\/p>\n

Why you have chosen the name “Transmission”?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The name “Transmission” came about because I’ve always liked the trans prefix which means across, beyond, or through. Transmission is all about sharing and moving from one place to another, always moving.<\/div>\n
I’ve actually just launched a Kickstarter to help fund the 2nd issue of the magazine<\/a><\/span>. There isn’t much time left to donate.<\/div>\n

You have designed a clothing collection for Madwell. What would you like to design for Maison Kitsun\u00e9?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I have a ton of ideas really… it’s been a while since I’ve used clothing as an outlet. I’ve been working on some really beautiful over-saturated pieces… let me know if you’re interested.<\/div>\n
