“Happy House”, the debut EP from Shindu<\/a> will be out next Monday on Kitsun\u00e9 and this is the time for the Belgium young trio to answer a few questions:<\/p>\n

First of all, could you tell us a bit about the story behind the band ?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shindu arose from Belgian dj-duo Static & Greedy (respectively Christopher & Maxime). After years of journeying through Belgian club life, we felt eager to bring something different without alienating into experimental music that would sound too inaccessable. We wanted a mixture of sounds we liked without denying our own savor. So, electronic music and 80s pop became the main ingredients to our project.
\nTo complete the band, we needed a strong leading lady to take on the Shindu-vocals. So we set up some auditions, and it quickly became clear that Chibi was the right one for the job.
\nAs for the icing, we got introduced to producer Sebastiaan Vandevoorde (aka Moonlight Matters<\/a>), head honcho in bringing the right sound to the right track. We met up in the studio, exchanged some ideas and finally felt we\u2019d established the perfect team to get things started.<\/p>\n

How would you describe your band and music in a few words ?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chibi: We\u2019re from Ghent city, we know the ropes!<\/p>\n

Christopher: Exhilarating, threesome, fun and games! Heck, the newest popsensation from Belgium!<\/p>\n

Maxime: A bird on a branch, palmtrees on white beaches, steel drums, green bananas and Belgian politicians. Hmm, does this sound familiar?<\/p>\n

What’s the best thing about having a single released on Kitsun\u00e9 ?<\/strong><\/p>\n

M: I\u2019ve been a fan for many years now, so it\u2019s not surprising that it\u2019s always been a dream to release on Kitsun\u00e9. I remember collecting every Maison Compilation CD and listening to them over and over. To be honest, it\u2019s still hard for me to apprehend this release!<\/p>\n

C: It\u2019s like getting marked for delivering work that\u2019s really good and radiates quality music. Bearing in mind Kitsun\u00e9\u2019s huge reputation and our predecessors, we\u2019re truly honored to be part of it!<\/p>\n

Chibi: YES! And besides that, it\u2019s one of my favorite clothing lines. Kitsun\u00e9 as a brand has so much to offer, not only in music, but the whole fashion scene behind it. And that versatility is what makes it a big deal.<\/p>\n

What would be your dream place for a concert ?<\/strong><\/p>\n

C: Outer space of course. But more realistically, I\u2019d totally go airborne with Shindu. A huge zeppelin, or on some flying machine with a nice view over the sky. Or why not get into a jumpsuit, leap out of a plane and land in a huge amphitheater for the afterparty.<\/p>\n

Chibi: That sounds great! But fairly, I\u2019d be more than satisfied on a tropical beach, in the dawn of a hot Summer day.<\/p>\n

What’s the funniest thing that happened to you on the road?<\/strong><\/p>\n

C: Two years ago, we were in Berlin for a dj show, and boy did we have laughs! This could have easily been an excerpt from a moviescript. After checking in at the hotel, we took the elevator to the 4th floor to get to our room. Down the hallway we met a mad woman, in her late sixties talking gibberish and wearing a fluo pink bathrobe. She seemed to have locked herself out of the room and was fiercely trying to get hold of someone to help her out. We kindly advised the lady to consult the front desk, but for some odd reason she\u2019d rather have a pair of young legs to do it for her. Polite as we are, we did it…
\nOn our way to dinner that evening, we passed by her room and found the door wide open with the old lady standing in the doorway… stark-naked! In between all her gibberish she tried to invite us into the room. Naturally we refused the \u2013 ehm kind – offer, but she wouldn\u2019t take no for an answer. So she chased us \u2013 yes in her birthday suit \u2013 along the hallway up until the elevator raving about! We took the stairs to get rid of her and eventually did when arriving on the ground floor.<\/p>\n

M: Scary, yet funny experience we had there. As a matter of fact, it dominated our whole weekend! Especially the image of her hobbling down that hallway will be stuck in our memories forever. And what\u2019s even more weird is that the next day during lunch at the hotel, she ignored us completely. It was like she\u2019d never seen us before… Sad, but true story guys!<\/p>\n

What are your plans for the coming months?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Chibi: Taking Shindu to the next level of course, getting in the studio to cook up some new tracks and do some touring. We\u2019re working on it, so stay tuned!<\/p>\n
