Maison Kitsuné is pleased to introduce its exclusive collaboration with Japanese artist and long-time friend of the brand, Kentaro Kobuke.

It all started with one-of-a-kind wooden Fox handcrafted by Kentaro Kobuke as a gift to Masaya Kuroki, one of Kitsuné’s co-founder. Kobuke first reinterpreted the brand’s favorite animal by reconstructing it in geometrical colored shapes to finally give birth to a creative collaboration composed of a capsule collection of ready-to-wear and accessories for Maison Kitsuné, a series of objects for Café Kitsuné Objets and an exclusive exhibition curated by Maison Kitsuné Gallery.

Out on November 3rd in selected Maison Kitsuné and Café Kitsuné stores and online at maisonkitsune.com.

MEET THE ARTIST

Born in Hiroshima 1975, Kentaro Kobuke currently lives and works in London. The multi-disciplinary artist creates fantastic paintings (drawings) evoking references to mythology and fairy tales using a distinctive method in which he draws with colored pencils directly onto boards of natural wood.

He is acclaimed for a style of symbolic motifs submerged in a richness of expression reminiscent of the Transavantgarde movement. His Letters series poetically depicts the traces of communication residing in media such as envelopes and paper. Kentaro Kobuke frequently works with partners in several fields, producing commissioned works for public art and collaborations with apparel brands.
