Ruben Dawnson

Ruben Dawnson
Ruben Dawnson is a young artist and multi-instrumentalist from the cold woods of Norway, determined to make a name for himself. His melancholic indie pop style, infused with honesty and emotion, echoes the thematic elements of his influences, which include the likes of Frank Ocean, Karpe Diem, and James Blake, and has recently taken streaming world by storm.

Having debuted with a lo-fi cover of Tame Impala’s ‘Yes I’m Changing’ on New Year’s Day 2019, his recent output has demonstrated potential to match the critical acclaim of his Norwegian peers such as Boy Pablo and Girl in Red. Prior to getting involved with music, Ruben was always keeping himself busy exploring his various passions and talents. Since the age of 12, he has been involved in acting and dancing which then influenced him to confidently express his passions for music as a creative outlet. This is evident in ‘Open Letter’, a single dedicated to expressing struggle and releasing his emotions out in the open. Having no choice but to communicate through his music, the track ‘Emmasofia’ is a reaction to the worsening climate crisis, a topic that resonates deeply with Ruben. ‘What Happened to the Days?’, a nostalgic ode to the lost innocence of childhood, which has been streamed over 250k times to date is a testament to Ruben’s ability to write and produce modern pop songs with a twist.
