Galerie Kitsuné is pleased to present ‘Our Black Experience: Stories from Black Women Photographers’, an exhibition by the new-york collective Black Women Photographers.
‘The Black experience is one of a kind. Our voices have been silenced for centuries, but now we are taking control of our narrative and how we are viewed. ‘Our Black Experience’ showcases four Black Femme-identifying photographers in the New York City area, each with a story that represents their experience and how they view their femininity.
These artists and their work are a culmination of beauty, triumph, the everyday, and ultimately how they view the world through their lens.’

ABOUT BLACK WOMEN PHOTOGRAPHERS
Founded by Polly Irungu, and launched in July of 2020, Black Women Photographers (BWP) is a global community, directory, and hub of over 1,500 Black women and non-binary identifying photographers, spanning over 60 countries and 30+ U.S. states.
Black Women Photographers is a home for Black women to receive proper recognition, and most importantly, get hired. Dedicated to providing a resource for the industry’s gatekeepers, BWP supports its members through promoting their work in an active database distributed to photo editors, directors, curators, and art buyers. The collective also offers an annual $50K grant fund, free educational resources such as regular programing of photo walks, webinars, workshops, trainings, and portfolio reviews.
BWP is committed to providing an abundance of professional and personal growth for Black creatives worldwide through community, conversation, workshops, educational resources, virtual and in-person events, and an active directory of photographers available for hire.
For Black History Month, Galerie Kitsuné invites Black Women Photographers to showcase their work around the Black Experience theme. Discover their stories through the exhibition as well as the different activations each Friday of February.
