Bohan Phoenix was born in China_s Hubei province and immigrated to the US at 11, unable to speak a word of English. He took a liking to hip hop instantly and learned the language quickly by rapping along to anything he could get his hands on. Today Bohan is an anomaly in music in both the American and Chinese music scenes; his inclusion of both Mandarin and English lyrics reflect his dual identity and aim to bridge the gap between the two cultures he calls home.
Despite courtship from big budget labels or TV game shows known for manufacturing the cookie cutter pop stars of the past, Bohan continues to push towards the future on his own terms, boldly cultivating a sound of his own, and in turn, the future of hip hop in China and beyond.
