Shermar
Shermar Akili Davis, known professionally by their mononym Shermar, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and multimedia artist. Born in Greensboro, North Carolina they have three siblings. “I was raised in an environment that encouraged thinking for self, but considering all perspectives. Within my home, there was a genuine appreciation for all types of music and creative expression.” Shermar credits the Carolina region as a great influence on their point of view as an artist. There, they studied media and film at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

In 2016, after several years working within the music/arts scene of that region, they were approached to write for Dutch ‘Soulection’ affiliated producer, Jarreau Vandal on his single "Nobody Else". 2017 saw the release of a collaboration with (Germany-based) nu-disco outfit, Satin Jackets. The song "Never Enough" garnered the attention of Luis Clara Gomes (aka Portuguese musician, Moullinex). The two shared common influences from David Bowie to Stevie Wonder, as well as a desire to change the world through art. The song “Carnival” was created as an impetus of that shared ethos. They have become known for their distinctive sound, characterized by their peculiar tone, introspective lyrics, voice layering, and intricate riffs.

Currently, Shermar is working on an impending solo release while continuing to support and collaborate with artists nationally and abroad.
