Native New Yorker, Russell Manning of Rush Midnight spent his formative years studying under jazz bass legends Buster Williams, Eddie Gomez, and Leon Dorsey. After touring the world playing bass with various bands including Twin Shadow, Russell wanted to find new inspiration and hone his songwriting skills, so he moved to Los Angeles - as did a longtime songwriting partner Rico Martinez whose lyric, melody and hook ideas compliment Russell's baseline melody foundations, instrumentals, production and mixing. While constantly collaborating with musicians around LA and NY, Rush Midnight is known for its melodic funk bass lines, dreamy synths, moody hooks and Russell’s signature sensual vocals.
