Fabrics & Care

Explore our Fabrics and Care Recommendations

Each Maison Kitsuné creation is born from materials carefully chosen for their character and quality. From timeless Denim to refined Knitwear, from supple Leather to distinctive textures, explore what makes each fabric truly unique, and discover the art of caring for them with precision and respect. These recommendations serve as a guiding touchstone for looking after your pieces. To preserve their elegance and ensure they accompany you through time, we invite you to follow the dedicated care instructions found on your product’s label.

LEATHER

Leather, noble and alive, develops a rich patina and reveals its character over time. At Maison Kitsuné, every leather is carefully selected, whether for ready-to-wear or accessories. This material deserves special care to preserve its suppleness and longevity. It naturally relaxes with wear, so we recommend choosing your usual size, your piece will adapt beautifully over time.

CARE

We recommend having your leather pieces cared for by a professional.

As leather is a living material, it requires hydration and maintenance to prevent drying out and damage to its finish. We suggest nourishing your leather once a year with a dedicated cream or milk, especially on darker shades. Apply a small amount with a soft cotton cloth in gentle circular motions, then buff with a dry cloth.

If your leather comes into contact with water, blot it gently with a soft, dry cloth. We also recommend avoiding direct contact with perfume, as it may stain or damage the leather.

For jackets, we suggest storing them on a hanger, ideally under a protective cover and away from light, to preserve the color.

Knits & Wool

Whether made from extra-fine merino wool, lambswool, cashmere, or mohair, each knitwear piece embodies exceptional craftsmanship. At Maison Kitsuné, we select these wools with the utmost care to combine comfort, elegance, and durability. To preserve their shape and softness, a few simple steps are all it takes—these knitwear pieces require special care.

CARE

Wool is naturally odor-resistant, so frequent washing isn’t necessary. To refresh your garment after wear, simply lay it flat and air it out.

When washing is needed, we recommend hand washing or using your machine’s wool/delicate cycle. Always turn the piece inside out, place it in a laundry bag, and use a wool detergent or a mild detergent.

  • - Avoid soaking wool for too long
  • - Never rub or wring, as this may damage the fibers
  • - For hand washing, gently press the garment flat inside a towel to remove excess water without distorting its shape

For stains, professional cleaning is best. However, you can also treat the spot at home by dabbing gently with a little wool detergent before washing.

Drying should always be done flat to preserve the knit’s shape, and away from direct light to protect the fibers. If washed and dried properly, ironing won’t be necessary. Should a crease remain, use a low temperature on the reverse side with a damp cloth. To keep your garment looking beautiful, avoid hanging it—store it flat, away from light.

Following these care tips will help minimize pilling. Over time, some pilling is natural; simply remove it gently with a fabric shaver or a regular razor before washing.

DENIM

Born in France, refined in Japan, denim is a timeless fabric, celebrated for its strength, elegance, and ability to age beautifully. At Maison Kitsuné, every piece is crafted to reveal its own distinctive texture and shade, making it truly one of a kind. With its first wash, the fibers naturally tighten, only to soften and adapt with wear, becoming more personal with every movement. For an impeccable fit, we recommend selecting your usual size.

CARE

We recommend washing denim sparingly, as frequent washing may weaken the fibers and fade the dye. Just a few washes per season are enough. To extend the time between washes, simply air out your denim pieces outdoors, away from direct sunlight (particularly important for lighter shades, which are more sensitive to light).

When washing, always turn your denim inside out, wash with similar colors, and select a gentle cycle at a maximum of 30°C. We also suggest fastening buttons to protect your other garments. Opt for a gentle spin cycle to prevent excessive fading. Avoid tumble drying, and instead lay your denim flat to dry.

Ironing is usually unnecessary if denim is dried flat. If creases remain, press the garment inside out.

For storage, we recommend keeping your jeans flat and away from light. To prevent creases, you can also roll them up from the hem to the waistband.

PUFFERS

To ensure both warmth and lightness, every down jacket relies on the quality of its filling. Maison Kitsuné carefully selects a variety of insulations: microgel, down, feathers, or polyester. Each requires specific care to preserve its properties. A few simple steps are enough to keep your jacket in perfect condition, season after season.

CARE

We recommend professional cleaning.

For down jackets with polyester filling, machine washing at 30°C is possible. Be sure to fully fasten the garment before washing. Tumble drying is also an option.

If a water-repellent treatment has been applied, use a neutral detergent to help preserve it.

We suggest storing your jacket on a hanger, ideally under a protective cover.

JERSEY

Soft and comfortable, jersey is the main fabric used for T-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies. Maison Kitsuné selects high-quality cotton fibers to ensure durability and softness. With gentle care, following our recommendations, your pieces will retain their shape and comfort over time.

CARE

We recommend washing your pieces inside out to prevent damage to patches and/or prints, at a maximum of 30°C.

We advise drying your jersey pieces flat to avoid distortion.

We recommend ironing jersey pieces on the reverse side, avoiding the patches and/or prints. You may only iron the lower body and sleeves to prevent damage to the patches and/or prints.

We recommend storing flat and folding with a 1 cm margin around the patches and/or prints to avoid damaging them.
